2022 Week 10 Fantasy Football Sleepers

🚨 CAUTION 🚨 They are sleepers. They won’t mimic my ranking 100%. It’s upside down hunting and often involves more risk.

STRATEGIST

POSSIBLE START: Daniel Jones, NYG – Jones had his worst game of the season before the bye, but he ran into a decent underhand defense (Seahawks). With a week off to reset and plan the Texans game, Jones should rebound…well, mostly for the game and not so much Jones’ passing ability. It’s really Jones’ legs that boost his fantasy value, with three 68-plus-yard games rushing and his two 20-plus-point games accompanied by a rushing touchdown (or two). Let’s hope Jones doesn’t choke like he did in Week 8.

COME BACK

POSSIBLE START: Rachaad White, TB – Reports indicate the Buccaneers could lean more heavily on White as the season draws to a close, and against the Seahawks that could start this week. Although the Seahawks’ defense against receivers is better than expected, they are very susceptible to pass-catching running backs, as Austin Ekeler wiped them out with a 12-12-96-1 line, Alvin Kamara received 6-6 -91, Javonte Williams went 12-11-65-0 in Week 1, and even James Conner went 5-5-19 in his return last week.

Hail Mary START: Isiah Pacheco, KC – As mentioned on the podcast, I want nothing to do with the Chiefs, Broncos, Rams and Bills backfields… if possible. Yeah, we’ll probably have to use someone every week, especially with Chiefs and Bill offenses, and this time we can aim for Pacheco’s advantage. It lies in hoping for a touchdown and a run while maintaining a lead. The backfield is a real committee with Jerick McKinnon outplaying the others, but Pacheco would likely see more run (no pun intended) with a healthy lead, which the Chiefs should have against the Jaguars.

WIDE RECEIVER

POSSIBLE START: DeAndre Carter, BAC “Josh Palmer’s advice pays off, so let’s turn to Carter this week. He was a good option in Week 9, but there’s an advantage for more against the 49ers, despite what it might look like on paper. The 49ers are near the top of the league for receptions over 20 yards allowed and, yes, a few of them have gone to Cooper Kupp alone, but even the Panthers have had four of those receptions over the course of the Week 5. Carter has big potential with 10.4 Air/TGT and 20.8 percent of his receptions for 20+ yards, despite playing mostly out of the slot. Chances are Carter will come in big and not flop.

POSSIBLE START: Wan’Dale Robinson, NYG – From Weeks 6-8, Robinson is tied with Darius Slayton for the team lead in target percentage (17.6) and has the most receptions (11) while being one of three players to catch a hit. That’s it with his 3-2-15-0 game before the bye (thanks, Daniel Jones). It’s the previous two games that we hope he mimics, because the game is favorable (Texans), as long as the Giants don’t come out too big too soon and run out of time.

HAIL MARY DEBUT: Donovan Peoples-Jones, CLE — Strangely, Amari Cooper dominates at home and struggles a bit on the road, where DPJ showed up. The Browns had three road games to five at home, and yet Peoples-Jones is 20-13-215 on the road and 26-17-202 at home. The Browns also head to Miami in what we can hope will be a shootout and Jacoby Brissett’s second game attempting 40-plus passes this year.

TIGHT END

Hail Mary START: Cade Otton, TB – Even if Cameron Brate returns, I’m willing to bet on Otton, who is third on the team in TmTGT% since Week 4 (Brate played Weeks 4 and 6). Otton is also second in red-zone and end-court targets during this streak, shooting in a 30-22-242-1 line. What really helps is the game against the Seahawks. No opponent has failed to score at least 5.2 points on tight end – TJ Hockenson destroyed them in Week 4, Zach Ertz had a nice 5-40-1 last week and even Tanner Hudson for the Giants managed 3-58-0.

Have fun with the leaderboards!
Best football party food

It’s back to food this week, and I have a big appetite to fight this flu…or whatever. I’ve always opted for hunger when I’m sick – some people don’t want to eat anything – so I thought, “Why not rank the top 10 foods for football parties?” It’s the middle of the NFL season, after all, so let’s dig…into the ranks…and some good food. Glad to hear your suggestions too. I always like to try new foods/snacks.

  1. Pizza “Why even have a football party if you don’t have pizza?” I’ll even take several pizza variations – bites, rolls, bread, etc. – in addition to regular pizza.
  2. Buffalo Chicken Dip “I can only assume that’s the taste of the streets of heaven. I have to spread it on my plate or I’ll binge the whole bowl.
  3. wings – Would rank higher if not for the endless need for towels/wipes. The Louisiana flavor is my favorite (Wingstop or mine).
  4. Cursors — It’s really a category on its own, but whether it’s burgers, barbecue, chicken, etc., these are must-haves, especially for the ease of eating them compared to a full-size burger normal.
  5. Soft Pretzel – I may be crazy, but I love soft pretzels – whether it’s a giant pretzel “log” that everyone shares, bites or whole pretzels – and there are so many variations , from salt to cinnamon sugar to everything and more.
  6. Buffalo Chicken Rolls — They’re a bit like spring rolls (size and makeup) but just filled with buffalo chicken. Easy to make, eat and love.
  7. Fleas — Utz-sur-Lays!
  8. Pigs in a blanket “Did you know the plural is pigs in blankets?” Cute, huh?
  9. Macaroni and cheese — Easy side, super delicious, and you can add different rotations to it.
  10. Taco/ Layered Dip/ Nachos – You might say it should be higher, and I won’t argue much, but the Buffalo Chicken Dip is much better, and I hate beans, especially the fried glop in the dip. If you leave out the beans, I’ll dive in!

BONUS: Monkey bread “If you’ve never had it (perhaps you didn’t know that’s what it was called), do yourself a favor and make it next time. Like chicken wings, it involves a lot of hand cleaning afterwards, but that’s what clouds in heaven look like. Imagine the middle of a Cinnabon – you get that in every bite!

BUY AND SELL

Bought

  • Justin Herbert, QB, BAC – I’m far from a Herbert apologist, but he hasn’t had a full lineup of weapons this year, and if Keenan Allen and/or Mike Williams can return, the Chargers have an in-between schedule, like Herbert still has many advantages.
  • Michael Carter, RB, NYJ – Yes, split the backfield, but a favorable schedule, and managers might think of “selling dearly” after a good game.
  • Gus Edwards, RB, BAL – Ravens goodbye, Edwards is up front when healthy and should be back in Week 11.
  • Courtland Sutton, WR, DEN – Was here last week, as Jerry Jeudy had a bad time earlier this year, and now Sutton is in the middle of his. I don’t expect a Top 20 ROS for Sutton, but the managers just let him down.
  • Diontae Johnson, WR, PIT – Also here last week, as the starting Chase Claypool narrowed the passing tree for Kenny Pickett, and volume was already high with Johnson anyway.
  • Michael Pittman, WR, IND – Sam Ehlinger at quarterback is concerning, but Pittman is still in the WR3 conversation with other boom/bust options like a Gabriel Davis.
  • Pat Freiermuth, TE, PIT – As with Johnson, Freiermuth will benefit from Claypool being out of the equation.

Sell

  • Justin Fields, QB, CHI — We discussed Fields ROS on Athleticism fantasy football pod, and he’s getting closer to the Top 5 at QB, but some have already placed him there. I would still take Tua Tagovailoa, so if other members of your league see him as better than Joe Burrow/Kyler Murray/etc., you get maximum return value – even if Fields continues this… run.
  • Joe Mixon, RB, CIN – Not just because of all those Week 9 touchdowns, but the Bengals have one of the worst schedules for running backs in the fantasy playoffs.
  • Josh Jacobs, RB, LV – It may be hard to sell Jacobs right now, but you could tell it’s just a tough stretch for the Raiders, when in reality the schedule doesn’t look great from weeks 14 to 17, and the Raiders could start looking until 2023.
  • Tyler Boyd, WR, CIN – It seems obvious, but there are plenty of inexperienced leagues with managers who could bite with Ja’Marr Chase.
  • Darnell Mooney, WR, CHI – Fields took quite a few shots with Claypool in his first game with the Bears. Mooney was fine as the volume king in the Bears passing game, and Mooney dropping even five percentage points in TmTGT% would be a big blow to his value.

Week 10 fantasy football projections

🚨 HEADS UP 🚨 These may differ from my rankings, and my ranks are the order i would start players in apart from additional context, such as “Need a higher edge, even if it’s risky”. Also, based on 4-point TD for QB, 6-point rest and half PPR
