In God of War Ragnarok, one of the equippable relics you can find is a mystical heirloom, which seems to serve no purpose. This page contains information on how to find the Mystical Heirloom and how to unlock its power by using it to summon certain encounters.
Warning: This page contains some spoilers regarding areas and abilities later in the game, if you want to avoid spoilers, come back after completing the Forging Destiny chapter!

Once you’ve completed Chapter 10 – Forging Destiny and unlocked a new item to open pathways, return to Midgard’s Lake of Nine and travel south from the Temple of Tyr along a large wall of ice at above the path to The Lost Treasury.
Look for a yellow vent in an ice block that denotes a destructible environment, and toss your new tool at the ice block and blast it to open a path into a small crevasse.
After destroying the block of ice, look in the crevice on the left and you will find the body of a dwarf next to a mysterious relic and a scroll of knowledge.

Unlike the other relics you find in God of War Ragnarok, the Mystical Legacy says “it looks important, but has no practical application in combat.” This is because when using it, Kratos will smack the device on his wrist to no effect, and its short 16-second cooldown allows it to be used frequently.
Noting that the information on the relic states that it “awakens something dormant”, you might notice that the nearby Scroll of Knowledge mentions purchasing the heirloom of an “Avliss Stonefoot”. It’s quite possible that you’ve seen this name before, as it’s integral to the purpose of Mystical Legacy.
In the different realms of Midgard, you can find different large statues of realistic trolls with their giant pillar-like weapons, most of which are located near a lore marker. These lore markers actually describe the troll in question and mention being imprisoned and “put to sleep” by the same Alviss Stonefoot.
By collecting them, one can use the Mystical Legacy to awaken these sleeping trolls and engage them in mini-boss battles! They can be challenging and reminiscent of the many troll fights from the previous God of War game. Defeating them will also earn you Slumber Stones, a unique resource only found on these enemies that will unlock a crafting job to create the Steinbjorn Armor at any Dwarf Shop. This armor is an extremely powerful defensive set, as it allows you to stun enemies and heal yourself when you take damage.
Below, you’ll find the locations of all the enemies you can awaken using Mystical Legacy.

blood stone
- Location: The Abandoned Outpost, Midgard
The closest Troll to awaken from where you find the Mystical Legacy, simply travel west to the edge of the Lake of Nine to reach the Abandoned Outpost. You’ll find a giant troll statue waiting for you when you cross the first hole after climbing up to enter the ruins.
Along with dropping Slumber Stone, it will also drop the Poison Protector enchantment, which can help immensely against Seidr or poisoned minibosses.

- Location: The Forbidden Sands, Alfheim
This troll can be found in the far northwest of the Forbidden Sands of Alfheim, but can only be reached once you clear the sandstorm by freeing the Hafgufa from its prison. He is surrounded by elf bodies all around and, like other trolls, will try to blind you with ashes and summoned stones.
In addition to dropping Slumber Stone, it will also drop the Stone Idol of Souls enchantment, which adds life and rage steal effects to your attacks after using a Health Stone or Rage Stone.
Ash and Frost Golrab
- Location: Noatun’s Garden, Vanaheim
Not one, but two sleeping trolls await you on the east river path along the river delta, east of the Cliffside Ruins and Pilgrim’s Landing in Noatun’s Garden (which you must first clear the hazards of spread of poison). Fighting two trolls will be quite a challenge, as in addition to trying to blind you, one will be imbued with frost and the other with flame – and trying to use a weapon with the same effect will be canceled and hit you with a gel or burning state.

Defeating them both will net you more Slumber Stone, as well as the powerful Momentous Stride enchantment, powering up your Permafrost, Immolation, and Malestrom gauges when dodging at the last moment.
